Tim Metcalfe and Bob Schermer each took a huge goat while bowhunting in British Columbia with Golden Bear Outfitting. The outfitter, Greg Williams just took over the concession this year. Tim's goat can be seen at www.huntingreport.com More details will be in the November issue.

I just found out the second goat taken on the hunt with Golden Bear Outfitters was taken with a rifle. That one made B&C and the first one has been confirmed as the new world record by P&Y. Great goats!

Golden Bears area has got to be the top area in the world for big billies. I know a number of the guides from when Dempsey Callison still owned it. The Pictures after each season where incredible as far as the quality of animals taken. Good luck to the new owner and happy hunting. Does a Pope and Young world record make the minimum for Boone and Crockett? I am a life member of the Boone and Crocket club, but I don't believe that the hunters name should appear in the book. It was the animal that grew to that size. It would be kind of like Nike, Krieghoff, Addidas, or any other product line getting to take home the gold medals at the olympics. I don't beleive that a record book animal of any species knows that it is that big while your hunting it. Just my opinion, but having lower standards for the Pope and Young and Blackpowder (longhunter?) awards so low are like the special olymnpics. Especially when you consider than 90% of both organizations trophies are shot with Ultra-modern inline muzzloaders and space aged compounds shooting 300 mph arrows.
