I went out today, late morning, temps were in the 60's, by the time I left, it was about mid 70's. What effect does this have on the deer. I know it was rough on me, too many bugs and sweating like a mad man. Tomorrow they are calling for more of the same, maybe a few degrees cooler. It's getting close to the rut but I hate hunting in the heat like this. Scott

Birddog, I never would think it too hot to hunt. Although later in the season during the pre rut and rut most of the deer have already grown a full winter coat and that combined with warm weather can drastically reduce the amount of daytime activity you will see in your area. You are crazy if you dont go out becouse you cant shoot bucks at home infront of the TV but dont expect to see a ton of rut crazed bucks dogging does in the middle of the day. Im not saying it is impossible to stick a trophy buck but I would be more inclined to hunt water holes at that time than feed sources or stick closer to bedding areas to catch deer coming out later in the evening when it is cooler. Great time to do some inseason scouting. I hope this helps. [ 11-04-2003, 17:03: Message edited by: chuckduster ]

Chuckduster, I am having the same problem. It got hot all of a sudden and all I am seeing are bucks and fawns. I already got an 8 point and want a fat doe so I have been letting the bucks walk. One 6 point went right under me. I have not even seen them on the roads lately so the heat must be getting to them. The moon is also getting bright. Combine all of this with the rut and those does don't want to be run ragged. Nasty bucks!
