I'm looking at getting a new sight for my Bowtech Razor Edge. Right now I'm using the stock sight that was in the box. Does anyone have suggestions on a better sight that isn't too expensive? Robert

It'll take a little more information to make an accurate recommendation. What kind of sight are you using now? Is it a multiple pin sight? Is it a range adjustable sight? What kind of poundage are you shooting? What weight arrows? What is the maximum range you feel comfortable shooting? I'm shooting a 70 lb. Forge Woodsman XL bow, and with my arrow weight (650 grains incl. head) I'm comfortable shooting out to 60 yards, although I use 50 yards as my maximum on animals. I use a sight very similar to this. HHA Bowsight It is a range adjustable model and rugged enough for field use.

Been bowhunting over 40yrs. Bought a new sight last fall and it's the best I've ever used. Black Gold Flashpoint. http://www.blackgoldsights.com/ Very nice bowsight that does everything they claim. Although I don't hunt after dark, the pins will illuminate from 1/4 moon up. I scooped mine up on sale for $60 including shipping but the webstore I bought from (TR Outdoors) has apparently gone under. ![]() Shame, I bought good stuff at good prices there. ![]() I'm considering buying the 7pin flashpoint as I have a number of bows and like long distance shooting. ![]()

The style of sight that nco suggests is also what I would reccomend. One of the biggest reasons why is the circle of white that outlines the sight window. You can then use a larger diameter peep and center the entire sight in it and then just place whatever pin you need on the game. Having to center individual pins while perhaps more conducive to precise shooting is slower and not as good for actual hunting conditions. (When I was a kid my father used to tell me that God hated a coward, I finally realized he has even less use for a fool.)

I use spott hogg Hunter HogIt 5 pin model. It is farely spendy, seems to work for me. Another sight I use is Extreme Sniper sight, The sniper is very good for the price, I bought mine for around 100 bucks. You could put a light on the sight and add more pins if you want too, mines came with 5 pins. I think you could add lens to the sight to make it look clearer, I am not for sure

DRN, On both my bows I have Spot Hogg 'Hogg-It Hunters' in 7 pin (0.010) Love that sight! 3rd axis adjustable. Like Bucko stated, I use the large peep and put the ring inside the ring with an even sight picture around it. The Guardian I shoot very comfortable out to 80 yards....my pins are 20-30-40-50-60-70-80. The sight I started with was the Spot-Hogg 'Right On' good sight but I wanteed the 3rd axis and bump from 5 to 7 pins. With all that, there are SO many good sights...don't short yourself and get a cheap one, it ain't worth it in the long run. You could go to Archery Talk and then scroll down to Free Classifieds then to the Accessories and General Hunting and then to Sights, Scopes and pick up a used one or two and try them out....then go back and sell whichever ones you don't like. ______________________ Smedley ![]() ______________________ From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.' I've looked at the suggested sight and I'm really liking the look of the Spot-Hogg 'Right On'. Thanks and I'll get back to ya'll soon. Robert

Consider the Whisker Biscuit..it is very simple, contains the arrow and is one of (or THE) most popular sight for bowhunters.

Ahhh, Dal? A Whisker Biscuit is an arrow rest, not a sight. And while it is very popular, I'm not a fan of them for several reasons. I don't like anything that adds friction and can reduce arrow speed, and I don't like the way they can squeek in cold weather. And I do hunt quite a bit in cold weather. The QAD Pro HD rest is a full containment arrow rest, yet it drops away for zero arrow interference and no friction.

Ahhh, sorry....daydreaming. Limbsaver sights.... (never could get the QAD to work on my X-force, tho'...don't mean to hijack the thread....I hunt in the cold, too with not problems with the WB..).

Robert, I am not an expert, but you don't say what kind of shooting you will be doing (hunting, target etc.) and at what range. My sight has 3 pins which is fine , but, the fiber optics while very nice, at 50 yards, the FO sight pin fully covers the aiming point. I would much prefer a finer pin so that I can center it in the bullseye. Just another thought to confuse you further! Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. My next new sight will be a Viper. My dad told me once that if you're gonna kill a rattler with a chainsaw, use the top of the bar.

Which Viper? viper archery The big one would have You got drown if you fall down into the water.? I am using Truglo and G5. But IMHO the Spot Hog sights are the most impressive. J B de Runz Be careful when blindly following the masses ... generally the "m" is silent

I use a Spot-Hogg Hogg-It 7 pin but they are spendy. I figure if I'm going to pay about 800 for my bow I'm not going to try to save 50 bucks on a sight. As someone mentioned, the Black Gold sights are great. Look at the Copper John as well. Both those brands can usually be had for a good price.

I sure would like to shoot some with you 7 pin guys ... just to see if I'm as good as I think I am. ![]() I don't shoot the 3D circuit, no time nor desire ... but I have shot with a former world champion several times. He says ... well, never mind what he says. ![]() ![]() ![]() some time back, but this was good enough I took some pics. 3 arrows @60yds (holding on the white dot and not allowing for the crosswind) When I'm on, I can get groups like these at a distance. Less than 'a distance', I only shoot one arrow. ![]() I also have a better sight now with the Black Gold. I'm in northeast NC and usually go to Ohio every Nov. I enjoy shooting with anyone but I really enjoy shooting with good shooters for fun and fellowship. ![]()

That's some shootin there ncboman. On my best days I might stack one group like that at ranges past 5 yards. If you're confident in your equipment and you execute consistently, you can really have some fun with a bow.

I totally agree on this being one of the best hunting rests -- total containment -- no bolts or screw or ?? to break or lose and the speed loss is negligable for those that care to test that issue ---- as to the cold --- not an issue for me but I have only used down to minus 20 degrees OMG!-- my bow is "pull-push feed" - how dreadfully embarrasing!!!!!

If you don't want to pay serious money, check out COBRA sights. Very good hunting sights for not too much. http://www.cobraarchery.com/sights.html Francois Marais PH Namibia sfm@iway.na
