I haven't hunted with a bow for over 20 years (two surgeries on my right shoulder and one on the left). I plan to start again next season and have been shooting a few Mathews and Archery Research bows. I like using the release. How is the best way to attach the release? Which is best, a loop on the string or attaching directly to the string? Opinons?

I think a loop will give you the best performamce and durability. It also helps alligning a peep sight if you choose to use one. They can give you a bit of a problem in the field sometimes. To attack your release you have to actually look at the string and release where as attaching to the string can be done without looking..... with a little practice. Shooting fingers is a real advantage while hunting. Dont forget that a loop will require and inch or so shorter draw length, so decide before you buy your bow.

I havent bowhunted for 10 years or so,(1 surgery on my left shoulder,2 each on both wrists).I have been thinking about getting back into it lately. I much prefered a string on release,as the loop ones are a pain to deal with.I also dont like the ones that strap on your wrist,i prefer to just leave it on the string and have my hands free.

I have been bow hunting for about three years and prefer fingers. It is easy to find the string now hunting to hook up. I guess it is strictly a matter of preference. Gravel
