I practice a lot with my broadheads and hate buying replacement blades to hunt with. I recently purchased the truangle R3 to sharpen my Thunderheads, but I can't seem to get them sharp at all. Any tips or advice appreciated. I used the oil as suggested and rotate the blades after each stroke, then use the leather strop. Still no luck!!!!!!!!

I use thunderheads too and resharpen my blades fairly easily with just a smith diamond stone purchased from walmart.

No oil, just a bit of water or spit on the stone. I sharpen them right on the head, pushing the blade on the stone.

The angle is what's important. One of my stones came with a plastic angle guide which is fine for knives but doesn't work with bh blades. Still the guide will show the proper angle and with a little practice, like new sharpness isn't a problem for me.

I have used a file in the past with good results but the diamond stone seems better and easier.

here's a link to a stone similar to the ones I use;

diamond stone

Try G5'S Montec heads. They are a 1 piece stainless head with a sharpener built to keep them razor sharp. The only head i use.

A long time ago I bought a BH sharpener made by DMT. It featured two 3" angle adjustable diamond wet stones that would adjust to fit almost any style BH. I used it to re-sharpen my T-Heads as well as touch up my actual hunt with T-Heads that i would shoot once or twice to check their flight.

I worked excellent for me and was dirt simple to use. Cabelas sell sthem for $34.95
Item #JH-41-0761.

It realy does put a shaving sharp edge back on a BH blade.

Hope this helped.
