the gator gar can be interesting fish to shoot. there's several methods. Eithr plain out bow-fish them, sometimes we go and shoot carp during the daytime and use the carp as bait at night on gator-gar rigs. run the rigs during the day and watchout what u may find. the gar that are on them, if big enough usually get shot not just once either. Shooting on tehe Brazos River is o.k. , but the water level needs to be really low. I've seen it as low were the tops of the fish's backs were out of the water skiming across the river. The hot spots in Texas are Choke Canyon,Trinity River, Sam Rayburn Reserviour. I friend, a class buddy took a 6ft. 9in. gator-gar weighing in at 165lbs. Last year, I did alot of night shooting at Somerville Lake and its creeks, last year it was flooded beyond belief, so bad that we actually were floating over the picinc tables and b-b-Q pits. Bow fishing in Texas is hell of fun and alot of B.S. takes place.
