alright guys a couple questions for ya. since the bow season is ended i am going to have a new string put on my mathews and am going away from feathers and switching to vanes. my current peep sight is of a design with the rubber tube used to line it up. i would like to get away from the rubber tube, as its just one more thing to break while stalking through the woods. what works best for y'all, just the simple round peep that splits the string in 3 with 60* of separation? also, as far as vanes go, quiet and broadhead stabilization are more important to me than speed, so i was thinking a 4" or 5" helical, but i'm not sure which ones to use. anyone tried sims? or quickspins? i shoot a 30" mathews outback at 70lbs with gold tip arrows cut to 27 1/4" with 100gr heads, and a trophy taker fall away rest. the feathers fly great but are pretty noisy and do not do well in the rain.

I use a peep similar to "Fletcher's Tru-peep" that you can look up on cabela's. I've never had a problem with improper peep alingment with this style of peep. The first peep I tried that didn't use a rubber was one that divided the string into three strands. I always had problems with this style. The peep was turned so I couldn't see through it, one of the string strands blocked the view of my pins.... I just bought new arrows and I'm fletching them with 2" Blazer vanes. I was/am skeptical they can do the job of stabilizing an arrow with a broadhead, but the guys at the archery shop and one of my buddies keep telling me they are the way to go. One guy said they hold up better shooting through a wisker bisket rest, which I don't use. I have a Trophy Taker rest as well... I currently have quickspin vanes on my old arrows, I've been shooting them for two years now. For the extra cost I don't see any difference over, say duravanes. Another reason I'm switching is almost all of the quickspins have "wrinkled" on me.

I have had two sets of custom strings and with both, once shot in, my meta peep doesn't rotate. It take a little while for the string to settle then if needed walk the peep by taking on strand from each side and moving it to the other side. I shoot a string loop that keeps the peep in line for me. As far as vanes, can't say. Started with 4" right helical feathers and am still with them. ______________________ Smedley ______________________ From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'
