I just bought a used recurve. The previous owner had drilled two small holes in the face of the back, through the fiberglass, to mount a sight. To me, sights and recurves don't go together, so the first thing I did was to take it off. Now I'm left with two small holes, staring at me every time I draw the bow. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix them with the least amount of noticeability? My first thought was black epoxy (the glass is obviously black), then trying to very carefully sand/blend/polish it back close to original. Anybody have a better solution? Thanks!

Cold Bore, If you can get ahold of any one at a quality Body shop or happen to know someone that works at one, Some of those fellas are quite good at working w/ fiber glass repair. Boat Hull repair centers know quite a bit about it as well. They could probably tell you right quick what will bond the best and be the easiest to blend etc. Good Luck! Reloader

Fish the black epoxy into the holes with a needle or wire until just full. Clean off any excess around the holes if you get sloppy. Leave the bow with the holes up until it hardens and it will leave a smooth finish. Don't try to cut, scrape or sand it. If the edges of the holes are ragged, twist a countersink on the edges by hand so nothing is sticking up, then fill flush.

Thanks guys! I'm actually considering drilling the holes to clean them up (the screw threads have the edges just a little bit rough...), and then either filling with epoxy or possibly even a plug of some sort. A perfectly round, very small, plug would look better than the little holes in there now. Otherwise, I think that if a "pro" will do it reasonably, I'll just let them have a go at it...
