Hello all, I am new at the bowhunting thing(just started last season) I have a Gorilla small bolt on stand. It is not the most comfortable thing in the world.

Bowhunting up here is tough, the only way you can score is if you spend all day in the stand. I am considering one of the LOUNGE type tree stand. I am not worried about how much is weighs, I am not crazy about climbers.

My main objective is to get something that I can comfortaby spend 10 hours in. Well lets face it.... lying on Angalina Joile for 10 hours would problaly get uncomfortable after 9.5
hours. But I think a lounge stand would make a long day in the stand easier on the body and easier to stay quiet an not have to shift around to stay comfortable.

What experience do you guys have with lounge type tree stands?? Thanks for info..

honkey,

I am a big fan of summit and api stands. I usually use a climber simply because I hunt mainly public ground and a permenant stand will often walk off. but if you are aginst climbers api makes a baby grand that is a chain on style with a high back seat and is pretty comfortable. Summit also makes on but I can't remember the name of it. If you go with a climber the api grand slam and the summit viper and cobra are very comfortable. I have spent many daylight to dark days in mine.

good luck and good shooting.

Summit is a Great stand.

The Tree Lounge stands are pretty dangerous due to the fact that when you get to the height where you want to hunt then, you have to take your feet out of the little climbimg piece, put your knee in the seat, and turn around to get set. Not something I care to do while 25 feet up in a tree. Plus you have to buy that extra piece for a platform to stand on to shoot a bow.

You could probably buy two summit vipers for what one Tree lounge will set ya back.

Good Luck

I've never used a lounger....it seems that you have to sit up in them to shoot, not something that works while there is a deer close by. Just because you're in a stand doesn't mean you can move/make noise very much. I've spent a lot of time in an uncomfortable stand and it helps keep you awake!!!! I don't like treestands as much as a nice ground blind.

in my climbers It took a couple of times to figure out what the distance between the foot and the seat should be for the easiest standing and most comfort. once that is done you can sit in one all day and then some. another thing is to set the front of the seat adjustment higher than the back so you don't feel like you are sliding out all the time. btw because of the cable the summits climb easier than api.

Get an API Grand Slam and never look back. It's like a Lazy Boy that you can attach to a tree. I love mine. Very safe and climber/tree friendly too.

FiSTers... Running is useless.

I've tried them all, stick with the summit or api stands. Tree Lounge stands are junk for the Bowhunter. thumb

Try the Summit Viper. I have used one for years and it works for Gun and Bow. Great warrenty too. I had one of the first generation vipers and had a support weld crack on the upper platform. With all the redundant welds and braces I was in no danger. I contacted Summit and told them what happened. They send me a new model viper no charge, no questions, no problems. I welded my old model and a support brace like the new models and have no complaints.
