Took this 23lb, 8" beard, 7/8" spur Tom in KS last weekend hunting with my longbow and homemade cedar arrows from a ground blind.
Found the turkeys Friday afternoon and followed them until they roosted. Waited about two hours, built a ground blind from cedars and limbs being as quiet as possible. Was in the blind before light and the turkeys flew down at 0730. Had my bird down on the trail he came by me going to water at 0745. Scouted for coyotes the rest of the day.

No minor accomplishment.
My sincere congratulations.

Nicely done. All bowhunting is fun but taking game with stick and string is especially rewarding.

Well done McClura!
That bow look very short or are you very tall? What poundage is that and what do your cedars arrows weigh? Also, what broadhead did you use.

My very first bow kill ever was with a 35# Hoyt Pro Expert Recurve, an easton 1817 with a field point - a dove at 22 yards. Thats were it started all those years ago and there is no end in sight..............

Soroko, the bow is 60" long, 55 lb @ 28". I got it for hunting from gorund blinds and pop up blinds. I use cedar arrows I make and with the finish, turkey feathers and 135grn Magnus 2-blade glue on heads they weigh 650-670 grns.
They hit like a truck from this short bow.

Mc

Your bow is really handy, the way I like it.
But doesn't it kick your wrist or your elbow. The lighter the recurve, the worst the punishment for my old bones.
