I've posted a few photos of my Bud hunting on his ranch SW of Houston.

I can't seem to find any deer lately.. Been looking for a doe for some venison and they've been hiding ! Bucks I can see, but no does..

This evening I went to a tree that I've hunted only one other time this year. It is right on the edge of a big flat or low area. Normally this "flat" would be standing in water but our drought has all these area dry. Deer always seem to travel the edges of these lows, I was hoping..

About 20 minutes before dark this male pig comes wandering through. I kept waiting for a shot but he was either facing me or quartering to me, neither of which I wanted. He kept getting farther out when he suddenly turned and gave me a hard quartering away shot.. He was about 18 yards, I was about 15' up the tree. The arrow hit a tiny bit low from what I wanted but was very close to where I was aiming. It took him at the very top of his left hindquarter. The arrow went in about 20". It was a CE Heritage 150 with an Abowyer large bonehead on the end.
I knew he was done for but was worried that there may not be much of a blood trail and there wasn't.. However, I had a good line on the direction he went and just to be safe gave him a bit of time before I started on the trail. The farther along I got the more blood was evident. He
made it 100-120 yards before making a tight circle and going down..
The bow is the sister of my first Sparrowhawk, used the same woods in the flair and riser but in the opposite layout. The first was cocobolo with an ebony flair and this one is ebony with a cocobolo flair. The bow is 48# at 28 and I draw a bit over 29"..
I'm still hoping for some venison !

I am not a bow person, but you guys probably understand his equipment.

I've been thinking of reverting back and getting out my old Bear Kodiak Magnum, but your set-up sure trumps that. Well done!

Nothing wrong with that Kodiak Magnum it's a nice bow.
I hunted a lot with my Bear supermag 48 this fall but did'nt get anything till this last hunt and I had my Marten Hatfield TD.

The funny thing is I was really hopeing for a hog but took a doe instead. Maybe Butch and I should have traded stands.

Mike,
I just got back to this thread. I mentioned in the original post that a rancher friend shot this and not I. Pat's ranch is outside Needville,Tx.
He is a Benchrest Hall of Fame shooter and the best off hand hunter that I have ever seen.
