I am using a Mathews conquest3 and
a recurve Great Plains Rio Bravo take down.
I hunt only with the compound, but I am training with the recurve most of the time, snap shooting only.
For the instant, I dare not shoot any game with the recurve, I am more confident with a sight.
I think the recurve is more sexy but has now a huge drawback : it is very (too) light and anytime I am shooting I am injuring more and more my left elbow.
Codbore, first have a try with a borrowed recurve. It's too bad having a sexy bow wounding You no end.
