Well after a long day hunting I was settled nicely in the seat of my trusty chevy-the silver bullet the kids call her. It was fully dark and I saw some eyes shining in a summer fallow field, like any good hunter I swung the truck partly into the ditch to see what was out there. There she was a nice little doe, still looked like a juvenile, but wait what did I see in the ditch? Antlers!!! Big ones at that, I quickly pulled my bow out of the back seat and before opening the door I shut off the interior light, I learned that trick long ago. I quickly walked toward the buck, put an arrow on the string and got ready. This shot was an easy slam dunk, I could slip an arrow behind this big boys ribs with ease, the angle was perfect and he was 20 yards away. I drew back and the nock touched my lip, I lowered my head onto the arrow and picked my spot. When everytrhing was ready and the tension was at it's peak I quietly said......boo!! The big boy took off like lightning. I'll see him again later, during legal shooting time. Nice buck though. the chef | ||
