For African Plains game your setup should be a 65 to 70# bow. Your arrows should be minimum of 450gr. You want momentum for deep penetration or your PH will have to kill the animal with the rifle after a long tracking exercise. You will very rarely get a second shot on a wounded plains game animal with the bow. Hope this helps Gerhard FFF Safaris Capture Your African Moments Hunting Outfitter (MP&LP) Proffesional Hunter (MP&LP) History guide Wildlife Photographer www.fffsafaris.co.za

For me there is only one broad head and that is 125gr Slick Trick Standard's. They have never failed me. Stay away from mechanical broad heads. For the big and thick skinned animals a 180gr German Kinetic will be my broad head of choice. Slick Trick 125gr Standards are perfect for animals upto and including Eland. I shot a kudu cow in May this year and I got 100% penetration and the broad head broke rib bones on the way in and out. I use Carbon Express Maksima Hunter 350 arrows. My arrow length is 30 inches and with a 125gr broad head weigh 450gr. Where are you going to hunt? Jakkals recommendation is what you should go with. The actual Bot. regs are 50lbs and 400 grains. Again I would go with Jakkals suggestion as I believe 50lbs and 400 grains is too little.

I shot 125 grain Snuffer SS in Botswana last August with great success. I was drawing 70 lbs, 30 inch draw, and about 475 total arrow weight.
