My grand father called me yesterday and said he saw a young buck chaseing a doe yesterday morning. Around 2 in the afternoon saw an older buck chaseing a doe on the north end of the property. That buck came within 15yds of the truck and was oblivious to it. Needless to say I spent last night sharpening my broadheads and am heading out on Friday. Our place is near Graham. Let me know if anyone else is hearing reports like this.

I was near Throckmorton 2 weekends ago.
The wife and I both saw young bucks deer "chasing" does.

The bigger bucks I saw were still "hanging out" together.

I'm hearing the same thing up towards the Red River.

Hope this isn't an indication of how early winter will set in....I hate ice storms Mad

Regards,
Scott

That part of Texas is known for 2 different "ruts", one early, one late.

I stand corrected: looks like the rut is on in central TX/Hill country also now.

Going to the ranch this w/e so we'll see...

The rut is about to kick off in E Texas (Around Palestine). The young bucks were chasing does two weeks ago and the large bucks were making scrapes.
It would be a good time to be in the woods down here the next three weeks.
Rattled up a few young bucks two weeks ago.

Well I only saw does this weekend. My game cameras suggest that the bucks are still fairly nocturnal
