I was looking over the fence from my new area and lo and behold!!! a big spruce tree I hadn't noticed, it would be great for a treestand....tomorrow I'm gonna call the owner and ask, beg, plead, bribe my way onto his land. I spent a couple hours poaching um I mean sitting quietly under that tree tonight....a nice cock pheasant landed under the tree with me he was only about 3 feet away. Damn was he ever surprised when I moved....it was funny he slooowwwly walked away all the time looking over his shoulder wondering what's with the moving tree?

WOOHOO I got the permission!! Went to walmart to buy another treestand but they are sold out...they come in every tuesday and they only get 2 at a time sheesh!! This will be the fourth stand I get.

I hate asking for permission so I don't do it very often, but when I do I'm usually granted it. I really should ask more people...I'd hate to be a salesman doing cold calls it's so nerve wracking.

Good luck everyone.....the rut is almost here.

Boss you're probably right....I'm way too late to be setting up a stand. It should have been done mnore than a month ago. But I'm still pretty happy and hopefully I can do it better next year.

Chef, deer don't really aseem to be afraid of new objects. If it's their bedding area and you go cut a bunch of trees down, they might be disturbed. But if you just cut a few shooting lanes, you should be okay. I don't think they're smart enough to associate a tree stand with danger, until they see you in it once. Then they'll look toward it every time. Good luck and good job getting permission. Feels a lot better sitting there now, huh?

Congrats on getting permission to hunt. This is totally up to you but I'd suggest that once you get one on the ground, take the land owner over some of the backstrap or maybe a bag full of jerky. This might ensure yourself of getting permission next year too.

Good luck with the new spot!!
