A super great use for 58cal cast bullets, Minie
and solid base. Especially for few million
of our shotgun only deer hunters.Ed

Ed

Would you care to elaborate. What cast bullet is that. What wad are you using. What hull are you using? And what load are you using.

The info is in the 12ga From Hell thread in Big bore section.
The discarding sabot is one we designed and got made,
We have 10,000 here .

We shot 2.5" group at 50 yds with rifled barrel NEF and scope.
Going about 1800 with 440 gr Minie Bullet, with 50gr of
Alliant Steel.In a 3" case

We can use 500gr Minie Bullet and similar
ones. Solid base works too.Weights can be 360 gr to 605gr.
And more if base plugs left out of the mold.
There are guys selling slugs on Gunbroker.

Can use IMR 4759, and get in up to 80gr in 3", that is all it
will hold with seal and 1/4" felt wad, but could go to
90gr if there was room.

In 3.5" cases can use 100 gr 4759 with 500gr in sabot.
Longer cases are where 4759 really does great.Ed

I wonder how they would work in my Browning Xbolt with the rifled 12 guage barrel.

Start out at 45gr steel in 3" case and go up.
With 440 gr slug max is 55gr depending on cases,
and 500 gr slug about 51gr max.The sabots
take rifling very well as they are not
undersize.Ed
