The set trigger in my MS MCA carbine will not function. I only have the front trigger functioning at about 15 pounds. I have no reliable gunsmiths in this area to repair this. Can anyone suggest a gunsmith that would be good with a set trigger assembly? Thanks!

I second Steve’s work. He did a great job repairing my Mannlicher Schoenauer.

First check and make sure the small adjustment screw is not screwed in too far.
If it's in too far, the 'set' trigger can't engage for it's intended purpose. You will only have use of the generally heavy pull of the front trigger.

I’ll give Steve a call. I tried the full range of adjustment with the small screw and the rear trigger still does not feel engaged at all.
The gentleman I spoke with at Steyr’s repair group was terrific. I tried all his suggestion and still still no success.

I'd pull the trigger group. The problem might be obvious once you can see everything.

Good point. Also check if the screw is in place - many twin set trigger rifles have the screw missing as they are either safe queen rifles or the shooter does not use the set trigger function.

Try the former President of Mannlicher Collector's Association (now defunct). His name is Tom Tompkins. I am not able to find his old emails. Very helpful guy & very informative. I found their website - http://www.mannlicher.org/contact. They are very knowledgeable people.

Sorry to hear that.

I corresponded with him a bit. He was always helpful. He had a nice personal collection and served the collectors community with his free website and information of sources for parts etc.

I hope someone else is picking up his work.

Give it a spray of CRC and make sure no other junk is in the assembly. WD40 will leave a residue that can clog parts.

I just had a nice conversation with Steve Nelson about my rifle. He really knows Mannlichers. Thanks for the tip. My rifle heads west next week.

Steve received my gun Monday and fixed it Tuesday Morning. What a pleasure to deal with. If you have a M/S save his phone number. Nothing major other than too much hardened gunlube and a screw that needed replaced.

Not real surprising...Never have seen these triggers actually broken, but the adjustment screw is ALWAYS buggered up.

Not surprised by your set triggers. And the old rifles would have had gun grease from 70 years ago!

Even with modern guns and solvents, a friend was in the South Island high country and his Sako 85 in 7mm Mag seized up. He could not figure our why it was not cocking & firing.

Came home and stripped the bolt and it was full of wet bush rubbish and grease.
