Last year a high school junior from Austin Texas contacted me for help with her school project. As a companion research project to the book The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, students in Eanes School District English III AP classes research a person whose name appears on the Vietnam wall. Students then create a presentation honoring the individual's life and the time in which they lived. To date there are over 1800 videos housed on this website honoring the servicemen and women who gave their lives in Vietnam. Their website is at: http://virtualvietnam.eanesisd.net/

Emily did her project on Marine Captain Carl Long. Coincidentally, Carl’s Texas A&M was instrumental in identifying Carl – The Things They Carried.
