18 1/2 lbs? Haven't we had much bigger bass than that caught in Texas, California and Florida? Confused

Actually the story a little further down says it was #22-5oz.

Pity they let the fish die. It could have been worth a lot of money.

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

From what I've heard lately, IGFA rules state that in order to claim the new world record, the new record must beat the previous by two ounces. In this case, it was only one ounce heavier, so the best that it could do is tie the existing record.

And something new that's come out is the IGFA is investigating allegations that it was caught in a sanctuary area. If this area is off limits to the general public, then the fish is ineligible to record consideration.

While the size is most impressive, there are a lot of questions.

Could be wrong on this but I thought a read live bait was used..... But then is sure makes my largest bass at 5 LBS look REALLY small.

Yep, the guy was trolling a live bluegill. Don't feel bad either, it makes ten pound bass look small too!
