EASTERN Province Police will not rest until the seven poachers suspected to have murdered an officer from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife in Nyimba last week are brought to book.
Provincial Police Commissioner, Alex Chilufya has said his men were on the hunt for the killers of Roderick Ngulube and determined to bring the suspects to justice.
“Police are investigating the matter and shall not rest until the culprits responsible are brought to book,” he said.
According to fresh information given to the Ministry of Tourism and Arts, the group behind the shooting were from Saulo Village and Zambia Police Service have been provided with resources to pursue the suspects.
Tourism and Arts Minister Charles Banda has described the shooting of a community scout in Nyimba district as devastating, pledging that his ministry would do everything possible to ensure to deter such behavior to bring down the levels of poaching and if possible stop it completely.
He urged the officers not to give up, but step up their patrols adding that Government would do everything possible to supplement the efforts that they were putting in to combat the crime that seems to be on theupswing.
Ngulube worked under the NyalugweCommunity Resource Board. His body was taken back to his home village in Nyalugwe area for burial after post-mortem.
