I learned the hard way that silver sights don't aid in shooting. I put an 1865 three cent piece in a TOTW sight base for a rifle. The sight picture changed with the sun's angle. The only good part is that the coin already had a hole in it.

I recently decided to make a similar front sight for my 1895 Marlin, but I am undecided on weather to use an 1895 Indian Head penny (which I've already got) or a 1973 Lincoln cent (represents the year of mfg of my Marlin)

If I provoke you into thinking then I've done my good deed for the day!
