I was going through some old things the other day and found this Westmark knife. I remember buying it in the 60's I think. I never used it, I don't think I ever took it out of the box. Are these worth anything?

Cessna,
I don't know anything about collector values, but I like it! What is the blade length? Overall length? Looks like a good skinner...why didn't you ever use it?

Westerns are collectable. I always see them at the knife shows. I don't know what they are worth but I don't think they really expensive like Marbles or some of the more collectable knives.

The blade length is a little over four inches. I really don't know why I never used it. But then again my garage seems to be full of tools and things I never use. It must be a character flaw. Thanks Mike for the information. Maybe I'll keep it for trade material.

My mistake. I misread your post. Ithought it was Western. I am not familiar with Westmark. Nice knife though.

My friend was given one of these and never used it as he thought , as I did , that it was ugly and poorly designed, impractical. He asked me to redo it . I cut off the hump on the spine , greatly reduced the guard and reshaped the handle.I reduced the weight substantially , and made a much better looking knife. He then used it !! It was as far as we remembered ,made of 154CM a very fine knife steel.I have no idea of the value though that was their top of the line knife.

I looked at a 1980 Western Cutlery Catalog this morning. It shows the Model 703 Westmark knife was made in Boulder Colo. prior to 1978 when the company moved to Longmont Colo. Also after 1977 the blades were stamped with a single letter indicating year of manufacture. This blade has no single letter stamped by the Westmark name. This indicates this particular knife was manufactured prior to 1977. The 1980 catalog price was $61.50. The Westmark came in a presentation box with a small catalog and warranty card on a bubble wrap bed. I thought maybe you'd find that interesting.

It looks as though having all the paperwork and condition mean quite a bit as to differentce in pricing. Thanks foxfire for the info.
