It was 40 years ago today,
That John Lennon passed away.
What a shame + a waste. I like a variety of music from classical to C+W to early rock. But I have always loved The Beatles. I think that Lennon like Tschaikowsky could have written so much more before dying too young. Like Kennedy, I remember where I was when I heard the news, oh boy.

That was just awful. The assassinations of the 1960s were shocks to the very soul, but Lennon's murder was a kick in the stomach.

I remember his assassination well, and was then and am still a Beatles fan.

If you will recall that Yoko Ono's request for John's Memorium was to have 3 minutes of silence worldwide at a late day in December 1980 (I forget the date), but I was down at the Armadillo World Headquarters at the Christmas bizarre when it happened. At the appointed time EVERYONE was silent, you could have heard a pin drop. It was a very moving experience.
