All this talk has got me itchin' for one, what rifles are available, nothing fancy, i know cz makes 'em, but who else.

Ruger offers the 9.3x74 in a No.1

Send off any decent old 30-06 to High Plains Reboring in South Dakota and have him do you a 9,3X62 job on it. My 9,3X62 Mdl 98 Husqvarna barrel contour is exactly the same as my same rifle in 30-06, so it should be no problem. It should cost about $250.00 with shipping, and you can "refresh" an old worn out favorite.

He advertises in Rifle magazine...

For a brand new "factory" bolt action rifle I believe your only options are the Europeans. You have already mentioned CZ. Blaser will sell you a Model 93 rifle in 9,3 X 62mm. Personally I would probably opt for a Sauer S202 or S90. Then there are the Heym SR 21 and SR 30 rifles. Lastly, there is the little known Chapuis Challenger bolt action rifle. I think a "Take-down" Sauer S202 is the classy way to go. You will have to ask "new guy" if Heym will make their Express Light in 9.3 for a customer. That would be a nice rifle.

Don't forget the Tikka T3, "nothing fancy" but a great value for money.

Another well finished factory offering that is worth considering is the Sako 75. I have seen a 9.3 in the Deluxe version. They are known for their accuracy. The Sako 75 action offers a very rigid platform and a bolt that firmly locks with 3 locking-lugs. It features :

integral scope mounts
a one-piece forged bolt
a fixed magazine
adjustable trigger (2 to 4 lbs)
walnut stock



When you see this rifle, I am sure you will get weak in the knees and buy it on your mortgage bond.

They have four Husqvarna 146's in 9.3x57 All look in reasonable shape from the photos. A bit pricey at 700 bucks, but are really a fine old classic. I LOVE mine!!! Would have to do some bolt work to scope it. But, who needs a scope on such a sweet little classic as this anyway.

Does Tikka import their 9.3's?

You can do a nice custom 9.3x62 on a GI VZ-24 action (cheap) and a Pac-Nor barrel too.

High Plains did a 9.3x62 re-bore for me using a stainless 30-06 bbl on a pre-64 M-70 action. I dropped it in one of the superb Echols/McMillan Edge stocks and plan on it using it as my everyday, all purpose, Alaskan rifle

Anyone have contact info for High Plains? Is it LaBounty's old operation?

I did not see a Tikka or Sako in 9.3 x 62 on the Berretta USA website, our only option for a factory rifle is the CZ550.

The info I have on the LeBounty Reboring operation is that it was sold in total to the Delta Gunshop in Colville Washington, with the staff being trained by the previous owner, and reconstituted under the name "Clearwater Reboring" as a part of the Delta Gunshop operation. I took a 30/06 Sako 75 stainless and had it re-barreled with a Shilen barrel. I bought the gun used for $750 and put another $350 into the new barrel. For $1100 I wound up with a great gun that shoots like gangbusters. Sako offers them in Europe but will not send any here. Can't figure that out since the caliber is growing in popularity. My gun shoots factory Lapua 286 grains into an honest 1/2 inch!

Another source for 9.3x62mm rifles is Steyr. They have made 9.3x62mm in their Pro-Hunter line of SBS-96 rifles for a few years. I owned one, which a good buddy now hunts with, and we had another one with us in our May, 2007, safari. Still, the source is European.

I asked that question to a Beretta Rep a few years back when I was in the market for a 9.3 x 62..

He told me that they would only import that chambering in lots of five rifles.. Since I did not need FIVE of them, I bought a CZ and have been happy as a clam ever since...

Finally, Beretta will start importing the Sako 85 in 9.3x66. Actually, for the American market, the chambering will be called the 370 Sako Magnum, but they are interchangeable. It seems reasonable to assume that they would offer they 9.3x62 models as well.

The Blaser R 93 is a most excellent 9,3 rifle.

Can one simply ream out a 9.3x57 to 9.3x62?

A lot of Husqvarna 9.3 x 57 rifles were converted that way. The early '96 actions took some extra work because the box is too short. I have a "Stiga" 9.3 x 62 which is a factory conversion of a '96 Swede.

I´ve used the Husky mod 640 action for projects and it´s great. I restocked one in 9.3x62 and it is one of my favorite rifles -a real game getter!

I recently bought a R-93 9.3x62 Attache' barrel and am quite impressed. I am so impressed that it has become my favorite all time caliber. It has proven to be a very easy caliber to reload for and has digested everything that I have tried in groups of an inch or under.

yes, and the prices went up about 50% at Clearwater. They are also fussier about what they work on and the schedule (as of Friday) was about four months minimum. I fear it is another case of someone considering their work is golden and expecting to get a 100% ROI in the first six months of ownership. They quoted me $350 to pull the 30-06 barrel off of a 1917, told me they did not work on the Eddystone versions, and that it would take six months to rebore and rechamber for 9,3x62, and that if they did not have a reamer I would pay 50% of the cost to acquire one and that they would still charge me the regular price and keep the reamer. I checked with Norm Johnson who told me about a hundred bucks less, ship it by February 1st and he would bring it with him when we got together at Quigley in June. Norm is an old time gunsmith, and thinks highly of the Eddystones; as did the folks at A2 who built 585 T-Rex's on them.

Research some of my previous posts regarding my use of the 9,3x74R in my double rifle the ballistic twin of your 9,3x62.

The 9,3 is a great killer.

I have been using Blaser R 93's for several years and have found them to be excellent in every way.
