How would you like to escort this old veteran to Africa?

It is a Mannlicher action .375 Express 2.5" sold by H&H. This particular gun is a bit hotter than the .375 2.5" rifles that I've had in that mine shot 270 grain bullets about 2100 fps and this is proofed for a heavier bullet at a higher velocity, but I don't remember exactly the cordite figures. (Jim Wooten, who used to post here often sent me the pictures last night, so I don't have the rifle to check the proof marks.)

I love the case with the stickers on it. They scream, "Been there and done that!"

Ernest,

What a great piece of history, it oozes Africa. The "Congo Belge" sticker on the case is classic.

Perfect although I would be hesitant to take the case these days. What is that device to the left of the Holland and Holland sticker in the top photo that looks like it has two bullets in it?

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Wow... what a great piece of history! Not only do I love the rifle, all the paraphenalia that comes with it, from tags to stickers, is way cool. Thanks for sharing!

Geez Judge. I read the first line of your post and thought you were putting on a contest. Gave me a case of Chris Matthews' Leg.

I am guessing an en bloc clip (maybe holds five rounds?) considering the shape of the magazine but can't really tell for sure.

The device is a clip. Rounds are loaded therein and then the clip is inserted into the magazine.

The gun is a real shooter, to boot. The gun sold on a web auction for substantially less than $2k, btw.
