Gentlemen, thanks for mall the info and advice.

Here is what I have:

Mathews DXT. I liked it best of all the bows I shot. 70 lbs 27.5"

Hostage Pro rest.
Mathews Spider 5 arrow quiver. One piece.
Limb Saver stabilizer.
Easton Axis N-Fused Carbon Nano-Technology arrows, 400 shafts. My draw is 27.5"

We had a big discussion about broadheads. this Pro Shop is in an area [East Texas] where they kill a lot of pigs. The "Pros" and severfal customers that were in ther shot stated they had great resuluts with the Mangus Stinger Buzz cut broadhead in 100gr weight. So that is what I got. I aslo got some G5 SGH [small game head], 100 gr as well.

The sight I wanted, single pin HHA, will not be in until next week, so they loaned me a single pin HHA to use until it comes in.

I shot the bow while at the shop. After getting sighted in they had me shoot the bow with every stabilizer they had in the shop.

One called the wild thing just might have been the best, but I was afraid if I fell asleep in the blind, and woke up, and saw that "thing" on my bow I would freak out, pull my 44 and shoot my bow and my leg off. shocker 2020 Eeker

Everything considered I chose the Limbsaver as it worked great and was compact.

I shot the bow with the quiver on empty, off, and on full of arrows. I could not tell any difference in noise.

I was shooting groups at 20 yards about 3" or less, most of ther time. The sight they loaned me has a very small pin and iot is hard for me to see. The HHA I have comming has a larger pin and is the one with the adjustable brightness feature.

My peep is the G5 3/16th.

The bow is set at 58 lbs right now, so I can shoot it a fair amount and build up the muscles and technique in my shoulders.

I plan to have it cranked up to @62lbs or so in a few weeks.

My arrows with the field points weigh @ 398. something grains and are going 250.something fps. which according to the caculations by one of ther pros is 55.something ft.lbs.KE, for those of you that are interested in such figures.

My plan is to practice the next few days, go back and get my sight installed, practice some more and then go to the deer lease and shoot some pigs, and what ever small game gets in the way. Big Grin

As always any info/advice ya'll have will be most appreciated.

Congrads on the bow!!

Remember, RELAX!! If you are not relaxed when you are at full draw, you CAN NOT repeat it!
Keep your bow elbow relaxed and your draw elbow up.

Breathe.....

FOLLOW THROUGH with the shot...

Did I mention, r e l a x ....

Thanks guys.

I forgot to mention I also got the Carter 2 shot release.
I like the "trigger" action real well, and the thumb safety, but what I liked most about it over the others was how it attaches to the loop.

It is very positive and once attached, as long as you hold down the thumb safety, it will not open up [release].

I just shot a few arrows in the back yard. It is almost dark, but still very hot, but I just wanted to hear the "twang". Big Grin

Well it doesn't really make any noise, but ya'll know what I mean. Wink

Do yourself a favor and go here: http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/ and read the stuff by Nuts & Bolts.
He does some WONDERFUL stuff on proper form.
By reading his stuff early, hopefully you won't get any bad habits started.

Most important thing:

Relax and enjoy....

Or maybe it's practice....

Thanks for the info and the link. I had already found that site but I had not looked at nuts and bolts stuff.

Looks good.

The Pros and the bow shop worked with me on my form, so I just need to not develop any bad habits.

When my bow sight comes in I am going back down to the bow shop and have them help me sight it in and will have them check my form again as well.

Did some Broadhead shooting today, Mangus 100gr Stinger Buzz Cut. Shot at 20 yards as I was shootng in my front yard. Eeker

It seems like this bow shoots these Broadheads better than the field points. archer

Great bow!

I take it given your love of double rifles, that your bow is the rare double arrow version. SxS or over and under?

Sad to say it is only a single shot.

But with a little work on the riser and some additional string....

I guess I will have to discuss this with JJ, as he does all my "double" work.

I just picked up a new stringed rifle myself- Mathews DXT in the same weight and draw as yours.

I also have the HHA on order and handled a friend of mine's sight the other day. I like the single pin, but I'm a little leery about the weight an balance, so I wanted to get you updated opinion.

It seems heavy by itself. Kinda strange to take a 3.75lb bow and throw a nearly 1 pound sight on it.

What do you think so far? Got any pictures of your rig?

Thanks!

Sorry I do not have any pictures.

I shot the bow at 30 and 40 yards this weekend.

I really like the HHA sight.

Mine is the one with the adjustable hood for the fiber optic pin.

I was impressed at how well it could still be seen at last sight.

I chose the DXT over the other bows not only by the way it shot but by the way it handled.

I also have the 5 arrow Mathews quiver on it.

It is still well balanced.
