Mexican hunter killed by water buffalo in Argentina
An amigo from Uruguay informed me that a well known Mexican hunter was recently killed by a water buffalo in Argentina. I believe that the video shows two men starting the fracas which quickly went south.

A 2,000 pound enraged wounded water buffalo is a terrifying sight. And I ain't speculating.

So sad to hear.

Here it is. Big scope on the shooters rifle wouldn't help once the buff got in close, his friend (the guide) seemed to have trouble reloading his rifle after his first shot and took 5 shots to eventually kill the beast, he probably didn't have much experience, certainly no help as back up.

That author has a very confusing style of writing. After finishing the article, I went back to the top, assuming it was translated, but didn’t appear to be so. Also, we are well aware Buffalo hunting is not illegal in Argentina. However, it may be different in Entre Ríos.

Still, a tragic death, but that’s the game we play. I packed my stag out (well, my guide did) and on our very long trek back to the lodge, we passed many herds of buffalo, but kept a wide berth. We only had a single 7mm RM. I suppose they do get pissed when shot. My buff cow took 5 .458s and some smaller rounds before going down after several miles.

Sure a terrible thing to happen, but that video is not of the hunt, it is in South Africa & is a Cape Buffalo, you can't really believe anything on the net from media !

I thought it looked like a Cape buffalo too and the Daily Paper article did not say it was a water buffalo so assumed it was a Cape. I have seen some images of water buffalos with a semblance of hooked horn shape although the boss is different to Cape's.

Haha true to be fair the Argentine Water Buffalo are the River type (I think its called) which are the more domesticated type found all over even in the US & Europe, used for working & milk !

Still dangerous by all accounts as many hunters have been injured by them, seem very Black, Hairy & with very tight curl, like a Cape Buff with no Boss.

I saw that video & remembered seeing it a few years back & it was from SA with a obvious Cape Buffalo .

Going back and viewing the video, it’s still confusing. It does look like the Cape Buffalo, but later I see the caffir mediterránea

The article is still messed up. Be safe always.

It is a Cape buffalo!

I think we might have gotten a link to another one.

In fact, I might have seen this before and I think it was South Africa.

Not sure though.

Lots of videos on YouTube of idiots in South Africa “hunting” buffalo but cannot shoot to save their arse!

Any bovine creature can and will be dangerous if wounded or not, Lot of deaths over the years by domestic cattle, especially Dairy bulls..

True that Ray. The worst bulls I ever dealt with were Jersey and Holstein.
