I'm hungry.

carpetman1Saeed have you ever eaten bacon? If so, do you still refuse to eat pork?
A priest asked a rabbi if he ever ate pork and the Rabbi admitted he once ate a ham sandwich. He then asked the priest if he ever had sex. The priest said when he was younger in a weaker moment, he had sex. The Rabbi said sure beats the hell out of a ham sandwich doesn't it?

No, I have never eaten it pigs.
I also don't like the look of ham, or any meat that is not well cooked.
26 March 2023, 18:56
Aspen Hill AdventuresSaeed, ham is fully cooked. The color comes from the curing process. Most people like bacon pretty crisp.
For me, the very best on pork is grilled baby back ribs. Hard to beat, beats even ham.

lavacaSensitive topic and not appropriate in my opinion. We should respect everyone's dietary restrictions for religious reasons and there was a good reason for it historically.
Don't get me wrong, I love bacon and ham, and note that a warthog or bushpig that's shot will get eaten by some people in camp. But I won't touch it. I certainly understand people who choose not to eat pork. It's not up to me to question.

Still is to certain religions. I am sure that Ann does not mean to offend in her explanation of ham, bacon and baby back ribs.
29 March 2023, 09:24
SaeedI probably have the skin of 20 dinosaurs stuck together.
I never even thought that Ann meant to be offensive.
I just don't like to eat certain meats.
I cannot eat beef which is not well cooked.
When I see people eating it like that I just call them bloody hyenas!
They can take it as an insult, to the hyenas!
We have several people working in our office, non of them is a Muslim.
They have lunch here too.
I go and try to annoy them, as I am fasting because of Ramadan.
Sadly, no one gets annoyed, they just laugh their heads off.
I call them every name under the sun, non stop non PC insults, and the bloody lot just love it!
Most are women, and they laugh loudest.
Nationalities range from Swedish, English, Scottish, Philippine, Indian and Sri Lankan.
When I don't turn up they call to remind me they are eating!
See what I mean about bloody foreigners?
29 March 2023, 10:14
Norman ConquestSaeed, you are getting more British by the day. (Bloody Foreigners!) You are right, of course. Your beliefs are your own, regardless of how true. But then again, everyone's personal ideas are TRUE, because they thought them.

Sensitive? Please be aware that I was not advocating for you, Saeed or anyone else eat pork or rare beef. Not sure how mentioning ham is simply 'cured' was meant to imply that one should eat it at all?

Ann, all you did was suggest I eat something you enjoy eating.
Nothing wrong with that.
Not half as bad as me saying only pigs eat pigs!
Anyone does not see the joke there, can bloody well off the Grand Canyon!
Head first!
30 March 2023, 19:43
Aspen Hill AdventuresSaeed, I always laugh about your pig jokes. Means more bacon for the rest of us!
BTW- one can make bacon or ham out of any meat. It is, as mentioned, simply a cure process. Same with sausage. Can use any meat. It does not need to even contain pork at all.
On my to-do list is to make some sort of sausage out of rabbit. Soon!

SaeedHad a call from a friends wife this morning.
He was here last night for dinner with others.
“What did you feed the boys last night?”
“Very simple dinner. Tortilla chips with various dips, and traditional beef roast with Yorkshire pudding and bits and pieces that go with it. Followed by the usual ice cream and berries. Any complaints?”
“Well, he arrived here half dead! He said he ate too much!”
“If you fed him good food, he wouldn’t gorge himself in my house!”
She started swearing at me!
I know she was happy then!

Saeed Best Pork Recipe?I hope you pig eaters enjoy this !
03 April 2023, 09:14
SaeedThis is our home made BBQ pit.
Uses normal charcoal, and has a hand pump at the end.
Works great.
Mixed beef, lamb and chicken kebab.
Grilled tomatoes and onions.
03 April 2023, 19:11
Aspen Hill AdventuresYou certainly eat well, Saeed. All that food looks delicious.

Use Enough GunIndeed it does! Reminds me of some of the wonderful food and buffets that I had while in Israel. I love every kind and variety of olives! And salads-YUM!
04 April 2023, 08:47
SaeedWe gather a couple of times a week here with friends.
Some call it their favorite restaurant.
And they do have favorites, and they all are into some funny habits when it comes to food.
Starters have been tortilla chips.
One of two recipes is served at the beginning of every meal.
Either chips with various dips, like guacamole. melted cheese, salsa and so on.
Or chips covered in refried beans, lots of jalapenos and covered in cheddar cheese and baked.
They absolutely refuse to have anything else for starters.
Main meal is whatever someone suggests.
Dessert is always a Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream with various seasonal fruits.
Again, they won't have anything else.
One day Hanna decided to surprise them by making dessert.
Good thing I am fully armed, or we would have had a violent riot here!
05 April 2023, 07:22
lavacaAll sounds and looks great.

Actually, she likes to play tricks on others, and blames ME!
But, the first time she came on safari with me, had a bit of "get in your own position" problem with Walter.
He never forgot that!
Walter loves chocolate.
We were in Chete, and the fridges work on gas..
Nothing ever gets too cold.
So Hanna decided to put Walter in his place.
She collected fresh impala poop.
Melted chocolate on them and put the pieces in the fridge.
They looked like chocolate covered peanuts.
Walter went and had a mouthful.
He has been very careful of her after that.
I remember him spitting them out saying OH SHIT!
Everyone was laughing and saying YES! ITS IS SHIT!
Tonight we are having Iranian dinner.
Will post pictures tomorrow.
Also making an exception for women.
A friends parents are here, and his daughter.
His daughter is Hessa's age, and they are very good friends since school days.
His mother likes soccer.
So I suggested they all come over and enjoy watching their son, and his brainless, unprofessional, incompetent, team mates play FIFA 2023!
It is actually very funny!
06 April 2023, 07:41
SaeedWe had a great evening.
But I am sorry I missed taking pictures of the food.
We had three ladies join us.
It took a bit of an effort, but we finally persuaded them to play FIFA 2023 soccer.
I think I am going to get rid of the men.
Invite only women from now on.
We laughed so much, and everyone stayed much later than usual.
Even Alaska, one of our dogs, join in too!
I suppose once women are allowed in, dogs can't be far behind!

SaeedYesterday was Easter, and as our family traditions, we celebrate every occasions with friends at our home.
It is also Ramadan, our fasting month.
So Hanna and Hessa organized a BBQ by our pool, food to be served at Iftar.
My job was organizing a shooting contest, and provide prizes for the winners.
I set up targets at 10 meters, with an Anschutz 8001 AIR 15.
It is a fantastic little target air gun.
Made to look like an AR 15.
Everyone had a great time.
This was our dinner.
Beef and lamb.
Some kids asked for sausages.
And we always please our guests.

SaeedI mentioned before that we have a very famous Pakistani restaurant here which has been going on for many years.
Even NIKE made a special edition shoe in their name!
They are famous for hot BBQ chicken, with very delicious sauce.
Last night we had some.

Norman ConquestThat all looks fabulous!

This thread cost me $100! After looking at the rice and bread, it reminded me of how good Indian food is (I know your food is not exactly Indian) so I took the family to an Indian restaurant (I certainly could not cook it)!
Everything looks great on your menu!
15 April 2023, 08:29
Use Enough GunDamn, Saeed, you're torturing me with every post!!
Your pics are always so amazing and mouthwatering.
I want to jump through the screen for some of that chicken and sauce, along with the super fresh salad!
Of course, I want to jump through the screen with every food post that you make.
Outstanding!
15 April 2023, 12:23
SaeedDo you know why Muslims marry 4 wives?
Apparently it started with a King a very long time ago.
He married an Arab wife to bring him children.
He married a Persian wife because he loved Persian music.
He married an Indian wife to cook for him.
He married a Turkish wife, to beat up as an example for the others!
Hence the saying "don't be a Turkey!"

Aspen Hill AdventuresI am going to make ram kebabs tonight. One of my favorite things off the grill.

lavacaGreat spread. I'm showing that picture of the salad to my wife. I said I wanted a salad with olives, but it looked nothing like that.

SaeedWe are having a break in the Maldives.
A tropical island resort where the apparently remember us from previous visits.
They had a sign with a manta ray by our villa saying WELCOME HOME!
I have been told by the girls to “be nice”!
Bloody hilarious this!
They have three restaurants.
An Italian, an Arabic and an International.
Had dinner in the Arabic one.
Said to them I was told to be nice.
They started laughing!
And answered “PLEASE DON’T!”
Food here is so varied, as they have to cater for people from all over the world.
If it is not on the menu, they will make it for you.
Swimming shorts and t shirts all day.
Sea temperature is around 31 degree C!
Perfect for me.
They had shark feeding yesterday.
Got my Gopro on a stick and tried to take some videos.
The sharks tried to eat it, and turned it off!!
Will try again today.
20 April 2023, 18:51
Aspen Hill AdventuresSaeed, just don't become shark lunch.
~Ann
21 April 2023, 17:36
SaeedThe bloody sharks are winning.
They knock my Gopro to the side, and I hardly get any footage.
Today I am going to put my diving camera on and see if I can get some shots.
I asked if I could go down below the jetty where they feed them, and got banned!
By both the hotel management and my girls!
No dangerous sharks there at all.
Black tip and nurse sharks.
Biggest nurse sharks is about 6 foot.
But the have small mouths and don’t normally attack people.
Especially old Arabs who are only skin and bone!
21 April 2023, 19:18
Aspen Hill AdventuresWell, maybe the sharks won't feel like eating a skinny Arab? Go for it!

SaeedWe spent 10 days at the Four Seasons Landau Geravaru, in the Maldives Islands.
We have been there many times, starting about 16 years ago.
Great place, great service, and delicious food.
I will post a trip report on the Photo Album Forum once I get home.
At the Male airport waiting to board our flight.
At the VIP lounge, as from previous trips this airport can get a bit busy.
They are but new terminal.
Contractor is SAUDI BIN LADEN and TRUSTENG from China!
Last night was a match between Manchester City and Real Madrid.
And following our tradition, two meals representing England and Spain were prepared.
Bangers and mash was the English offering.
Chicken, lentil and rice was the Spanish.
Someone funny character asked if we can provide grilled Spanish bulls balls.
I told him his wife is best at that dish!
