Shrimp boil
Shrimp boil
I am going to do a shrimp boil for the dove opener in Ks this year.
Have never done before though I have eaten at some shrimp and crayfish boils.
I found several recipes on line and have settled on one that has potatoes, sausage, corn on cob, and shrimp. And it uses Old Bay seasoning.
For those that have done this, any tips or suggestions?
Thanks

A7drvrDon't overboil the shrimp or you'll have shrimp broth! 6-7 minutes in boiling water is all they need. When they feel like a ping pong ball they're done!

GatogordoOld bay is good, but find Zatarain's Shrimp Boil on line, it comes in a little box with a packet of boil inside that you just drop in the water. Add plenty of salt and cayenne pepper, besides the Zatarains. Bring to rolling boil with corn, sausge, and potatoes in mix. Add Shrimp. Keep heat on. When it starts to boil again, remove shrimp. As mentioned, do NOT overcook shrimp, a common mistake.
We usually make a "dipping sauce" by adding horseradish to ketchup to taste. Good for shrimp, potatoes, etc. Enjoy.

butchlocget the water close to boiling - throw in the tatos 1st (about 20 mn) then about half way the sausage and corn, then in the last couple minutes the shrimp (crab works great too) you'll have a hard time finding zatarains here, but penzys has a great mix

I have picked-up Zatarain's in walmat in the past. I don't know if they still stock it in the stores.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
