Need Help with 20 Gauge Load
I just picked up a preowned MEC-9000G in 20 gauge. I have the following components:
WW compression-formed hulls
Rem 209 Premium primers
Claybuster WW20 wads
Unique

Can you recommend a recipe for a nice skeet load w/7/8 oz of #9 shot? I can't seem to find this combination of components in the Alliant guide, and I don't want to experiment with my new gun.
Thanks

You will like that 9000... For the 20 Gauge, I use the exact components you have listed.

15.5 grains of Unique and 7/8 oz of shot will make a great skeet load.

Both myself and my wife are skeet shooters, and I have used that load for years. Smokes the target, and will not beat you up.

This load is published on the Alliant Web Site. Their Max is 16 grains. 15.5 has always been enough for me.

If I remember correctly, bushing #24 dropped right at 15.5

Thanks, Bill. I'll make a box and try them out tomorrow.

You can also use those components for 3/4 oz 20 ga. loads, which pattern very well.

Gets another 3 boxes loaded out of a bag of shot too.

5/8 oz loads work well too, and you'll get 640 loads out of a bag of shot.
