Using Brass Hulls in Autoloaders

Can brass hulls be used in auto loaders or only SxS?

Hi, In the 60s Gevelot sold an aluminun one piece 12 ga shell with a rolled crimp. I shot a lot of them out of a Browning double auto with no problems. Also out of a Auto five. The question is why, current shells are 100% waterproof. Why look for cases that cost over a$per round. JIM
