I recieved some 12 ga used hulls .Some are winchester Super X and some (most) are winchester AA .Both cases measure the same but the Super X have a marking that reads 2 3/4in-1-8 and the AA read 3-11/8 -7 1/2. I am a bit confused by these markings . If I understand correctly the last number is shot size , the middle number is weight of shot charge and the first number is shell length? I think I must obviously not know the correct meaning of these numbers as the two hulls have different "length" numbers on them , yet they are the same by measure (2 3/4 inches) Can someone help me out and explain what these numbers mean ?Thanks

The "3" is likely "3 drams equivalent".

An antiquated way of saying 1200 fps with 1-1/8 oz. payload.

The first number is the dram equivalent. It is an old carry over from black powder shells and our "modern" method of describing the new shells. Both are 2 3/4" hulls.
