Timmy was the first player to file for arbitration this winter. No question that he deserves it. Arguably one of the best pitchers in the game.

Any ideas on what the arbitration settlement will be (his first try at arbitration)? $10M? $15M? More? He's worth whatever he requests, though the Giants might not be prepared for it...

But I don't think there's any chance they'll trade 'the franchise.'

I suppose one could argue he is the best...but IMO he stole the Cy Young in 09.....

Well, if it goes to arbitration, I don't think there is any way the Giants can claim he isn't worth $15-20M/year. If they don't figure something out before the hearing and the panel is fair, he'll get a decision for a top 5 pitcher's salary. That's pretty scary for the Giants to contemplate considering some contracts out there...

Just read an update. Lincecum is asking for $13M, while the Giants have offered $8M...

I'd expect Lincecum to get his $13MM, and probably a longer term deal at that kind of pricing.
