hawg wildT/C pro hunter -vs- CVA accura
Looking for input as to which gun is a better purchase. I have heard numerous negative things about CVA muzzle loaders as to the quality of the steel used in the barrels. Now that they have switched to the Bergarra barrels, has this problem been corrected? A feral goat management hunt is in the works for the island. First archery, second muzzle loaders, third National Guard helicopters (no joke). I'm in for the first part. Would like to get in on the second part with a quality muzzle loader. Will have no part in the third. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Concho42I have both , 45 CVA, 50 Thompson Center Encore My CVA shoots fine using 80 grains 3F Hodgton Trip/7 with TC Sabots &.400 JHP or Lead conical bullets ! My TC Encore new had a bad barrel ! sent back ! they said it was ok ! I took it to dealer and showed him it was improperly stress relieved ! he brought out several barrels I examened them and 2 out of 8 were good ! I took the best one and it shoots great TC Sabot with Hornady JHP or Power belts 295 Gr. 80 Gr. Hod Trip 7/3/F I never had a problem with CVA ! TC has carbon ring every shot to many problems for me to recommend one for muzzle loading , I also have a .280 Remington caliber barrel for it and it is great a tack driver ! Hope this info helps you !

PenetraterThe main reason i dont care for the CVA is its weight as compared to the T/C, i just bought a T/C Triumph , so far love it.

UnderclockedPenetrater - are you going by the spec'd weight or have you actually held an Accura? I think CVA must spec the weight to include all the accessories as well as the rifle. Mine weighed 6 lb 14 oz minus the sling, before mounts and scope.
The Accura I have is the first CVA inline that I have actually liked... and I REALLY like it.
I've owned a lot of muzzleloaders and this one is a jewel compared to many. The Triumph is also said to be a nice rifle - but the Accura is sure no slouch. I wouldn't trade.

UnderclockedPS: the Accura barrel is made from 416R stainless, the receiver section is primarily cast aluminum.
