success with the .45
got the kentucky out in the weekend and had nothing but success and a very sore shoulder with it.i put the problem of mis firing down to the caps i was using cause i tried some of my mates and the rifle didn't miss a beat.it also shoot extremely well with 6 shots in a 1" grouping at 50 metres.i was using a 300gr minnie with 70gr of ff elephant powder.i think i will use a bench rest for sighting in now since the design of the stock isn't that great for prone shooting.i really can't wait til march/april when the stags start roaring because i will certainly be taking the kentucky with me

sure did.i was also wondering that if they are going to be stored away for some time if it pays to run a dry patch through it and then re-oil it again.

Jimmy After I shoot mine, I clean the barrel several times after the first cleaning with an oiled patch WD-40, or any gun oil ,you will see that after 2 couple days the barrel will have a rust build up inside it , so YES clean it till it does not show rust Usually 3 times will do it ,Then every month take a clean rag and do it again , I have guns from 1970 That are like new inside barrels ! I like 1000 Wonderlube for long storage, but clean it out before shooting the next time .
