OLDE EYNSFORD
I'm interested in your thoughts from those who have used Olde Eynsford powder. I've used Goex for many years with complete satisfaction. Do you think it has any advantages to other powders.

Olde Eynsford 3F and Swiss 3F are very close. Both get a bit more velocity than GOEX 3F.

Olde Eynsford 1 1/2F yields the same pressures as C&H No.6 in the 450 x 3 1/4". The 3F over pressures by quite a bit.
This is not a guess - checked in a pressure gun.

Yes Sir Mike, OE is a very powerful powder, I have a 45-120 Shiloh Sharps, with 120gr OE 2FG it will push a 500gr grease groove bullet to a full 1650 fps, quite a powerful load, I shoot the rifle at a very accurate 1488 fps with 100gr OE 2FG.

The 45-120 [45 3-1/4] Sharps is a twin of your British 450x3 1/4, great cartridges.

Gents:
Here is some of my load data using a Lab Radar for my 4-bore Rodda, 1400 grain ball and 24" barrels:

385 GRAINS FFFG GOEX
AVERAGE FPS: 1487
MUZZLE ENERGY: 6875
MKO: 287
RECOIL VELOCITY: 24.89
RECOIL ENERGY: 221.38

385 GRAINS FFFG SWISS
AVERAGE FPS: 1549
MUZZLE ENERGY: 7461
MKO: 299
RECOIL VELOCITY: 25.43
RECOIL ENERGY: 231.08

385 GRAINS FFFG OLDE EYNSFORD
AVERAGE FPS: 1513
MUZZLE ENERGY: 7118
MKO: 292
RECOIL VELOCITY: 25.11
RECOIL ENERGY: 225.42

Most of my loads show OE with a slightly higher velocity than Swiss. Not in this case however. All averages are from 6-shot strings.

Cal,

The test you posted above is what prompted my question. In my case it will be used in a couple of .54 caliber muzzleloaders I own. I just haven't got around to trying out OE as of yet so I appreciate everyone's experiences with it.
