Scope for Pro hunter
Just got a new T/C Pro Hunter in 50 cal..
Don't know much about scopes for black powder guns. Will a VX II 3X9 be ok.
Some body told me a BP scope was special, like a air rifle scope. I this true? Hope not the 3x9 leupold is just sittin there.
Educate me..
Thanks Sur5er

You can use that scope and it will be fine. If I had one I would use it. I am going like most other people. I am going to use the Omega
scope. I like the idea of sighting it in with one bullet at a set powder charge. I will do this if I can get the rifle to shoot like they say it will. One of my hunting partners swears by it and i have seen it shoot.

I have a 4.5-15 Zeiss Conquest on my ProHunter ML, but that is the scope I had available at the time of scoping (and I like it). Wink

I have a Nikon Pro-Staff 2x7 on mine. Where I hunt field of view is more important then magnification.
I've also have the same model scope on my slug gun. They are everything I need in a scope and I have zero complaints.

I bought a TC Encore in 50caliber before the Prohunter came out if they change the law allowing a scope I will be putting one on for this fall. What power do you guys think is necessary for 100 yard max shots?

Go with at least a 3-9 scope...while not needed for 100 yard shots, the extra power will let you get the maximum performance out of the gun when shooting paper at the range. These rifles will shoot sub MOA with a bit of tinkering and why not use optics that will help you do that.
