Problem with TC Omega
Shot my new Omega today (finally) and like it alot, except that I dropped a spent 209 primer down into the action and had to take the barrel off to retrieve it. That would be a real nightmare in the field without a screwdriver.

There is no way to get the thing out without separating the stock and the barrel.

I used 90 grains of 777 and 250 TC Shockwave bullets. After inital sight-in, I shot a 5 shot group of about 3 inches at 80 yards from a kneeling position using a sandbag on a step stool. Not too shabby considering the rest.

Hunted with it the rest of the day without a chance at a deer. But I may use it in the upcoming rifle season.

Being my usual clownish self, I would suggest two things:

1- Don't do that.

2- Take a screwdriver in case you do.

Seriously, I usually have the minimum tools with me or at least nearby to do a little field maintenance with any muzzleloader I'm carrying.

I have a TC Omega, 50 cal and have dropped a few primers down into the action, but have always been able to get them out by just holding the trigger assembly in the full open position and inverting the gun and shaking it a bit. They have always dropped to the ground. I have always realized that I dropped the primer and never tried to close the action so perhaps that is why I have had no serious trouble.

Bud H:

Maybe I was just unlucky. I did realize that the primer fell into the trigger assembly, but could not get it to fall out. When I removed the stock, the primer fell to the ground. I am more careful now and hopefully won't have that problem again.
