patriot22round-ball vs. conical
Is a round-ball or conical used in T/C Hawken.
Not sure of the twist. Are all T/C Hawkens 1:48 or 1:66 twist.

Alaska Bush ManI have a Renegade 54 and a Big Boar 58 both with 1:48 twist....they work best with Conicals. The Hornady Great Plains Bullet and 100 grains of Pyrodex Select powder seem to be the right combo for me.

HobieMy .54 New Englander with 1:48 twist works equally well with both conicals and round ball. Working up a load involves more than powder charge but also patch thickness and sometimes lube when working with RB. Grooves are wide but kinda shallow on the TC guns and this may be why some do better with RB than others...
