round-ball vs. conical
Is a round-ball or conical used in T/C Hawken.
Not sure of the twist. Are all T/C Hawkens 1:48 or 1:66 twist.

All that I know of are 1:48, You should be able to use either though one will probably work a bit better than the other. My TC would not shoot conicals, but did well with roundballs. Some did otherwise. However, the guy I sold mine to, did get conicals to shoot eventually. So, perhaps it is just in putting in the time and effort to properly work up a load.

I have a Renegade 54 and a Big Boar 58 both with 1:48 twist....they work best with Conicals. The Hornady Great Plains Bullet and 100 grains of Pyrodex Select powder seem to be the right combo for me.

My .54 New Englander with 1:48 twist works equally well with both conicals and round ball. Working up a load involves more than powder charge but also patch thickness and sometimes lube when working with RB. Grooves are wide but kinda shallow on the TC guns and this may be why some do better with RB than others...

the t/c hawken was made in twist 1-48 round ball or t/c maxi- ball.

I have made a correction to the above post. The 1-66 twist barrel was made in the Pennsylvania Hunter model.
