Buying real black powder in Iowa?
I'm in central Iowa, and am looking for a place to find real black powder. It appears to be made of unobtainium, here.

120mm,
I'm here in central Iowa too. I can get it delivered to my door. Just did as a matter of fact.

How? There doesn't appear to be a primer (pardon the pun) in how to do it, yet everyone I've talked to, acted as if it took some incantations, etc., to get some.

I found some at JLM sporting goods at 100th and Hickman in West Des Moines, but could only get FFFG at $13 a pound.

I think JLM is about ready to under. I'm also betting that you bought Goex powder at that price. So, if Goex will work for you, you can order from any of these distributors:
http://www.goexpowder.com/distributors.html

These generally sell in 25# lots. There is one distributor that will sell smaller lots, but I'm not sure which one it is - maybe Powder Inc.

Also, you can buy it from Track of the Wolf if you find yourself up on the north side of the Cities.

This guy has Goex. Last time I bought it, it was about $14 a pound. It is hard to find and in a rough part of town. Get a map from MapQuest or someplace before you go.

This guy has Swiss. Last time I bought it, it was about $20 a pound, but worth it. There is only one street in town and it is about a block long, so you can't miss it.
