Danny Paywhat is the advantage on line system?
Hi
Nowdays modern muzzle loaders are often made with in line system. why it would be better in this way?

BrentThere are only two advantages that I can see. First, many will allow the breech plug to be "easily" removed for cleaning, which I feel is a big nonissue anyway, and I shoot a lot.
But the BIG reason for an inline is that they are so damn ugly, you can leave your gun at the range and it will still be there the next time you come back. They are SO UGLY that no one would even dream of stealing it in his worst nightmares.
Your mileage may vary - a lot.
Brent
PS. My latest noninline is even uglier - trust me.

<eldeguello>I
AGREE with Brent! I have a number of ML rifles. One is an inline, and it is easier to clean by taking out the breechplug and clean from the breech. You can also remove bullets, etc., more easilty because of this feature.
However, there are no other advantages! You CAN mount a scope on a sidelock. You CAN use 209 primers if you get a Mag-Spark 209 nipple for your sidelock! If you use 209's on a sidelock, you CAN use pellets, if that is your thing! You can also have double-set triggers on your sidelock, which are SUPERIOR hunting tirggers!
Also, a sidelock has the same advantage over an inline that a single-shot cartridge arm has over a bolt-action: it can have a lot longer barrel and be no longer overall, or the same-length barrel and be a lot SHORTER in overall length!
Advantages?? This depends on what your definition of "advantages" is!!

derfThere is one thing you can do with an inline that a Trad M/L will not do. If you open up the inline and thread a length of rope through the barrel, you can use it as a boat anchr. That just won't work with a standard old M/L.

TC1eldeguello, You're an ARROGANT LITTLE SHIT aren't you. If you'll go back and re-read Wakemans post, you'll see he talks about more than weather proofing.... dip shit

He is one of the only ones who gave an intelligent answer instead of that boat anchor crap or nobody will steal it bullshit! I own both and prefer to hunt with an inline. I'll admit I don't everything about MLing but it's obvious you don't either and your reading comprehension sucks
1. Inlines are easier to clean
2. Inlines are easier to scope
3. Most inlines are lighter and easier to carry
4. You don't need a coonskin cap to hunt with one
5. If Daniel Boone had a choice, he would have used an inline!
NOW, KISS MY ASS!

TC1Thank you for your kind words, and yes, I see superior intellect on your part too.

After going back and re-reading the entire thread from start to finish, I can see were my post might have offended someone with an inferiority complex.

This would also explain why you choose to attack me on a personal level. If it makes you feel better, what I wrote didn't even refer to your post. Maybe I should have wrote your name in there along with Wakemans or maybe started the my post with "Except for eldeguello,s post Listen to Wakeman, He seems to be the only one here that knows what he's talking about". Would that have made you feel better?
Yes, I am a "truck driving teamster" and enjoy it.
What's your problem with that? I owned a very successful business before I started driving a truck, but I found this to be less stressful and it gives me more free time to do the things I like. I'm not ashamed of what I do or my education level, so let's move on.
I would question the intellectual level and maturity of anyone that would use the word "ignoramus" in their post and claim to be or make the accretion of being superior to anyone.
Do you need a PHD to talk about the merits of in-lines VS. traditional ML's any way? If so, I may not be qualifed for this subject

but all this has gotten way off subject of the original thread and I apoligize to Danny Pay for that.

<eldeguello>Well, when you say no-one but Wakeman knows what he's talking about, I just assumed you meant no-one but! I realize the danger of making assumptions
![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)
, but you have to admit it was a reasonable one!

TC1Fair enough

and apologies on my part for the rude comments I made. I'm not trolling for a argument.
