The lower-priced inlines can shoot very well. A friend gave me a Traditions Lightning Lightweight .50. I put an old Weaver 2.5 X scope of the thing, and dicovered that it shoots the big heavy White bullets very well with 100 grains of Pyrodwx P. So just to see what would happen, I bought another Traditions, a Lightning with 26" barrel but a .45 cal. with 1/20" twist. i cast up some Lyman .457122HP 350-grain Gould .45/70 bullets from pure lead and sized them in steps down from .4575" to .452", and left the front band at .454" so it would engrave when loaded. EWith 80 grains of Pyrodex P it shoots into about 1.5" @ 100 yards. I am just guessing at velocities, but I suspect it is breaking 1400 FPS, judging from the feel of the recoil. Will chronograph both rifles the next time I go to the range.
