degoinspedersoli double
thanks for the info admiral. i didnt get to do any shooting this weekend. apparently these rifles will take heavier loads than the factory recommends, how long have you been shooting yours with 140 grains?

admiralDegoins, i purchased my .72 Kodiak from Cabela's the 2nd year they offered it. it's been awhile, maybe '00 or'01, maybe late '90's? anyway i have a .50 cal Kodiak also that was bought back in '95 also. i have heard of guys shooting alot more powder than me and shooting the subs like 777. 140gr.of FFFG Goex regulates in my rifle perfectly. with a roundball and such a massive bore the pressures are low. before i purchased the .72 i researched alot of British writings about bore muzzleloaders and the loads they used. a common load was 5 Drams (137 grs.) of Curtis & Harvey #6 powder. i have since played with Pyrodex P and FFG Goex. the Pyrodex P works almost as good as the FFFG Goex but the FFG is too slow and doesn't regulate. since my rifle regulates i replaced the rear sight with a Marble's #20 rear sight. it is all steel and give a cleaner sight picture.

donnieolHello, I found this thread and I wanted to see if there are any updates, I have one of these rifles on the way.
I would really like to know the dimensions of the bullet in the photos in order to have a mould made and I'm curious to know the sequence, powder charge, card/wad, projectile etc.?
Any information would be appreciated
Thanks, David

tarawaAfter having some problems with my first mould (some dimensional confusion upon ordering), I switched suppliers and went with Accurate Molds. Tom designed me a conical and now it is listed in his online catalogue. My schedule has prevented me from casting anything yet, but I will probably start casting shortly. You can not beat the price and customer service that Tom @ Accurate Molds offers. I ordered a two cavity cast iron mold.

mdstewartI have a .58 caliber Pedersoli and had to shoot it alot to find the right load. I shoot rounds balls with 85gr of Goex IIF. It now shoots 2-4" groups at 50. That's good enough for my black powder hunting, as I generally hunt in thick woods, where shots never exceed 50 yds and are usually 20-30yds. Nice handling double, but the wood is lousy. They could charge another $1000 and make this a world class DR.
