Can anyone help me?
I am deeply involved in Revolutiomary War education in a State Park in NY. As a volunteer, I have to supply all my own gear. As you can imagine, this can get expensive.
What I am now trying to do is to teach school groups the part taken in the war by Militia, and Minute Men. I have a working Brown Bess, but to be more authentic I am trying to locate a working single barrel flint lock shotgun. In the hands of the average farmer, these were more common than muskets.
My problem lies in the fact that the period appropriate guns I have been able to find cost almost $1000. Way over my means.
Anyone have any ideas where I can pick one up in the $2-300 range? New or used does not matter. I will nver put shot down the barrel, but it has to be able to fire a squib load of BP.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you get some parts from Dixie Gun Works, and MAKE one? It would be a lot less expensive, and very authentic!!

I really appreciate the idea, but I have neither the shop, tools, or probably the skills required to build a working fowler. I wish I did, because your idea is really great. Too bad I can't follow up on it.
