encore with bellm pin
my 6.5-284 encore will not shoot less than 1" at 100yds, usually 1.5-2". there is some play when i open the action. has anyone tried a bellm over-sized pin?

Exsanguinate I was getting some unexplained fliers, I would have 2 or 3 rounds almost touching then then next round would take it out to 1 or 1 and half inches, until I bought the 1X over size Bellm pin, it even tightened up my groups in my 209X50 black powder barrel.

I use them in both Encore and Contenders and won't be without them. If consistency is something you strive for, a Bellm pin is certainly in order.

Also, a good forend (NOT a factory rynite forend!), be it pillar bedded or set up with a hanger bar, will help your groups as well and, along with the use of the Mike Bellm pin, will bring your consistency to a surprising level. The combo will also eliminate any day-to-day POI shifts.

Probably one of the least expensive improvements you can do for your contender or encore.

Gentlemen:

Although not an Encore shooter, I have met Mike Bellm at our rifle range locally and have had conversations with him multiple times. He is a very knowledgable gentleman, and know of his reputation for excellent work. Judging from the amount of business from all over the country I have seen come in to him, when I run into him at the local gun shop or at the place we both get our mail, having one of his products, you are in good company with a lot of people that trust his work.. It is a pleasure meeting and knowing a guy like that. He would probably like me even more if I ever started shooting an Encore! [Razz] [Roll Eyes]

I have been on his website and read some on his pins and other stuff that he has so I thought to myself if this is a problem why hasn't T/C corrected it. So, being the way that I am about such stuff I went straight to the source of the problem T/C. I talked with a tech. about these over sized pins to see what he would tell me about them and this what he had to say. He told me that it couldn't be the pin that is the problem, the problem would be the frame itself. He said that when they aply heat to the frames they expand and this it where you get the play from. I checked my frame and I had no play at all in it. So I guess it is just a matter of what one believes the problem is. I guess the oversize pins must be doing something because alot of encore shooters believe in them. God bless and good shooting.

i glass bedded the hanger bar to remove lateral play and rubbing of the forearm against the frame. my groups are a bit tighter, but still not sub-moa. so, i ordered an over-sized pin last week and i am anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Factory Rynite,modified hangar bar system forends are without peer. Wood moves too much to be of any competition in that regard. Most competitors are using synthetic stocks for a very good reason. We can learn from them. [Wink]

Who will modify my factory rynite forend?

Mine came from Fred Smith at Bullberry. He used a Muzzleloader forearm to modify because my bbl is a med. varmint profile. You have to have the single screw hangar bar bbl to make it happen though. Good luck. [Smile]

Where can I get one of these BELLM pins?

My action seems to be pretty snug with the factory pin! Maybe go one size bigger????

Are these sold in increments of .0001"?

Thanks;
Chuck

Thanks for the web address! Sounds like the bellm pin can help almost any Encore or Contender!
