jens poulsenLovely rifle.
I would like to have a original sportingrifle in 577/450 or a 577/500 No2.
As for customrifle project a 577/500 Magnum would be interesting.

afro408Thanks Jens,
As a matter of fact, I will be building another one, in the 577-500 No 2. I have the cases and the donor action, now I just have to collect the other bits, barrel, stock wood, reamer and dies.
I have one order, for another takedown like this one, in .450 No 2 Musket and will probably start building it in about a years time.

Big Bore FanVery, very nice.
This is a rifle, plain and simple. Beautiful wood and bluing.
The .450/400 2 7/8 "is very similar to the 10.3 x60R, or am I mistaken here.

Thanks and yes, Martin, it is the same, but you wrote 2 7/8 ", not 2 3/8". There was a 2 7/8" version as well, but it would be too long for the Martini.
The 10.3 x 60R is the only cartridge allowed to be used in one Canton in Switzerland.

jens poulsenHow would a 20/577 Alex Henry do in a largeframe Martini action?.
When was the last Martiniactions made?.

Great looking rifle! That fore-arm looks like it mounts like the one on the old T/C rifle.
I have full size martinis in 6mm/303, 45/70, and 12ga. I love them.

Ups, sorry, it was a mistake, I mean the "2 3/8".
And the canton in switzerland is "Graubünden". Only rounds with more than 10,3mm are allowed. So there are born a few wildcats, like the 10,3x74R or the 10,3x64.

Don't know when the last one was made.
The 20g-577 may be a little big in the head diameter ? May be too long as well.

That mechanism you see, is the takedown release.
Here's a pic of it in the prototype stage.

Bill/OregonAfro, I am not so sure the .450-400 2 7/8 would be too long. I had a Martini in .577 3-inch BPE and the case, loaded with big softnosed Woodleighs, fit fine. I bought the rifle, unfinished, from CongoMike on this forum. It now lives in Cut Bank, Montana.
There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Well, there you go. The long ones fit! Good.
Do you still have this one and is it finished yet?
What make is the action? Westly Richards?
That sir, is one magnificent rifle. Congratulations!
