Thomas Jonesinteresting shoot with my new #1.
I had to run out to my gunsmiths place the other day. And it is 30 mile drive so i decided to keep going on out to the oregon Coast range and try out my new #1RSI 30,06.
It was cold and windy and I was shooting off the hood of my truck at a range of about 115 yards.
I was getting quite upset when the 1st load I tried witch is usually a tack driver in any rifle, a 180 grain sierra over RL-22. Was shooting in the 4 or 5 inch ball park.
My 2nd load with a 165 grain balistic tip was better at around 2 inches. , and I was feeling better.
Then I fied the last load witch was a 150 grain hornady over IMR-4064.
I got 2 groups of an inch and a half, and I will say that ain't bad under the conditions.
with the rain and the cold extra 150 yards, not to mention no bean bags.
I got to figure all those factors probably added at least a half an inch to most of the groups when compared to using the range I usually go to.
I loaded up some more stuff and will go to the range tommorow.
I,ll be shooting some 150 grain SSTs over H-414 , and athe last of a box of 165 grain sierrs BTs over H-4350, and some 150 grain hot cores over IMR-4064.
I plan to get some IMR-4350 after the shoot.) as that and RL-19 are my favorite powders for the 06.
It will be interesting to see how fast 53 grains of IMR-4064 will push a 150 grain speer out of my 20 inch tube.
I get 2850 using 47 grains from my 22 inch .308.
But I really liked the way the little ruger felt on my shoulder , when i was waliking back and forth to the well shot up stump.
The darn thing is prety cool i must say.

Cliff Lyletj,
you're throwing a #1 craving on me. I'm getting more and more interested in single shot rifles and will most likely begin my collection with the #1 RSI.
