280wahoo338 federal encore barrel
Has anyone shot a 338 fed barrel on their encore, and is T/C the only company chambering a barrel in 338 fed?

GrumulkinI haven't shot a 338 Federal.
I'm sure any of the custom Encore barrel makers would make a barrel in 338 Federal. A nonexhaustive list would include MGM (Match Grade Machine) and OTT (On Target Technologies).

Mine is a 15 inch barrel on a handgun frame and the recoil is a bit noticable from the bench, particularly ith the heavier bullets. I would think a rifle would not be all that bad,,,I like barrels shorter than 28 inches though..my rifles are all 24 inch or shorter...had a pro hunter in 280 Rem that was an outstanding shooter...but in the heavy cover that I usually hunt it was a bit too much so I sold it.
The 338 is a really neet cartridge though and thumps deer nicely in the short tube.
I cannot recall excatly but I was suprised with the speed from the 15 inch tube.

coyoI have a pro hunter in 338 fed with the 28" barrel but when you minus the bolt & action which is what Im used to it just seem like any old 24" bolt action, very reasonable accuracy, the recoil is about as a 308 in my opinion, yet at the muzzel produces slightly more energy than a 7mm mag according to the articles Ive read,Kippy ki yi yay for the 338 federal
