Remington Hepburn-builder info?
Bought this rifle and need info on the builder. The person that I bought it from had it for 30+ years and forgot the builders name. It was supposed to have been done in Michigan. Somebody mentioned the name of Wayne Swartz.

Nothing is marked on the receiver or barrel. If you have any ideas let me know.
Thanks Butch

You'll have better luck if you search for Wayne Schwartz. Wayne is 77 or a little older, I doubt if he is doing any gun work. Heck, I haven't talked with him in a couple years. He may have passed away. He was a master Scheutzen rifle builder the last twenty years, he even mastered the task of putting double set triggers in a Ruger #1! He is from Michigan.

Doc Carlson, of Chadron, Nebraska, is offering the Hepburn action as a set of basic castings and instructions, or as a fitted kit with all the holes drilled and tapped, etc. About $500 last I talked with him. Several competition Schuetzen and Black Powder Cartridge Rifle Silhouette rifles have been built on the actions and compete with some success.

The pictured rifle has Fajen Aristocrat wood and I SERIOUSLY doubt that Wayne Schwartz actually built it. He may have owned it at one time but his interest was in Schuetzen shooting and that rifle appears to be in Varminter form.
Regards, Joe

I just got off the phone with Wayne Schwartz. The link above gave the info that I needed to find him. He was the first person that I called. He did not do my rifle, but wanted pics. He said he had buddies in Tex. that do good work on falling blocks.

Would you mind sharing the addresses of his buddies in Texas?
I have a #1 that I may want to customize.

Slim,

that would likely be Dave Higginbotham at Lone Star Rolling Block. He restores, and builds RBs at his shop. Actually makes actions and rifles. Single and Double set triggers if you like, side levers, etc.
